What We Believe

As Episcopalians, we believe in and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We believe that God loves you – no exceptions. The Episcopal Church embraces a legacy of inclusion, striving to embody and exemplify God’s love for every human being. People of all genders and sexual orientations serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy work together in leadership and governance.

Worship Style

Our invitation to Holy Communion is found in the words of Jesus from the Gospel of Matthew: "Come to me all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

Our worship is open to all. Some people dress up, some do not. Some have been attending church for years, while others are still finding their way. Some stay for a lifetime, others pass through on their journey. We are bound together in worship by the ancient words in the Book of Common Prayer.

We are all on a journey - no one has all the answers. We come before God as thankers and seekers, sharers and prayers, as those who believe in mystery beyond ourselves and hope for love and justice for all human beings. We come to laugh, to cry, to be fed and to go into the world rejoicing.

Our worship is mostly traditional, and we do not apologize for that. Freeing our minds from constant invention allows our lips to soften, our hearts to open and our minds to embrace the beauty and wonder which we find at God's table.

Child Care

Nursery and Sunday School is offered at no cost for children of all ages during Sunday worship. Child drop off is downstairs in the hallway between the church and the parish hall. All nursery attendants and Sunday School teachers are Safe Church trained and certified. Sunday School is casual, incorporating a basic message, craft, and fun. Children are also welcome to join the worship service if they prefer! We love the joyful noise of children in our worship space.

Formation

The Episcopal Church defines formation as “lifelong growth in the knowledge, service, and love of God as followers of Christ… informed by Scripture, Tradition, and Reason.” Offered in a question-and-answer format, the catechism found in the Book of Common Prayer helps teach the foundational truths of the Christian faith.
